Dr. Robert Sue is passionate about providing each of his patients with preventive care so they don’t have to experience the inconveniences of serious oral health problems down the road. That’s why at Glendale Dental Wellness Center, we look forward to being the destination for your dental checkups and cleanings. Even though you may be diligent about brushing twice each day and flossing at least once daily, plaque and tartar can still accumulate in hard-to-reach areas of your mouth. That’s where we come in!
The first part of your routine visit with Dr. Sue is a thorough examination of your mouth. If you need an X-ray to spot problems that may be hidden under the surface, this will happen during this time. He’ll inspect your gums and teeth to make sure he doesn’t spot any signs of gum disease or dental decay.
He’ll also conduct an oral cancer screening in search of symptoms such as red and white sores in your mouth. Because this disease progresses so quickly, it’s important to catch it in its early stages while it’s easier to successfully treat. If Dr. Sue finds any problems, he’ll let you know and discuss possible treatment plans.
During your cleaning, one of our highly trained dental hygienists will use special tools that are designed to reach between the nooks and crannies of your mouth that you can’t get to with a regular toothbrush and dental floss. Using a scraper, they will remove built-up plaque and tartar along your gum line that can cause common oral health problems like gum disease, cavities, and bad breath.
After plaque and tartar are removed from your teeth and along your gums, we will use a special polisher and gritty substance called prophylaxis paste that will shine your teeth. While the paste is slightly rough, it’s proven safe and effective in removing surface stains. After that, we’ll floss your teeth so you can leave our office with a mouth that feels fresh and healthy.
Patients often put their routine checkups and cleanings on the backburner because they figure as long as they brush and floss at home, that should be enough. However, Dr. Sue and our team at Glendale Dental Wellness Center are professionally trained to spot conditions like oral cancer and dental decay that you won’t be able to at home. When you treat these problems early on, you can save yourself time and money in the long run.
We focus on preventive care and treatment because we don’t want our patients to deal with the headaches of tackling serious oral health problems such as infections and advanced gum disease. When you attend checkups and cleanings every six months, Dr. Sue can help you avoid future headaches. With one simple phone call or visit to our website, we can give you the peace of mind that your oral health is on the right track.
