An attractive smile can enhance every aspect of our lives, from how we feel about ourselves to the confidence we exude to others in our professional and personal lives. Since the teeth are an unmistakable and central part of the smile, even a single chipped or otherwise flawed tooth can detract from our overall facial appearance. Fortunately, Glendale Dental Wellness provides one of the most popular and desirable cosmetic dentistry procedures to our valued patients across Southern California: porcelain veneers.

Veneers make imperfections disappear!

Our dentist, Dr. Ivan Chan, precisely designs veneers from the highest-quality materials. Porcelain is a coveted dental material because it closely mimics the appearance of natural tooth enamel. Once these thin layers of dental ceramic are color-matched and perfectly fabricated to your specifications, veneers are applied and secured to the front surfaces of the teeth. So, they quite literally cover up cosmetic imperfections.

“Treatable” conditions include minor cracks, chipped teeth, gaps between teeth, and poorly-shaped teeth. Veneers may also be shaped and placed to elongate a worn or overly short tooth. Intrinsic discoloration that does not respond well to professional teeth whitening may also be disguised with our attractive, durable veneers.

What to expect

Dr. Chan will first examine your teeth and mouth. He will also discuss your goals for treatment. We ensure you are aware of all treatment options. So you can make the most well-informed decision that is in the best interests of your overall health and well-being. Generally, patients with otherwise healthy mouths may be good candidates for this treatment. The process goes like this:

  • A minimal amount of enamel is removed to make room for each veneer.
  • Impressions are taken of the “prepared” or slightly reduced teeth.
  • Information about the teeth is then sent to our lab.
  • To protect the prepared teeth, Dr. Chan applies temporary veneers.
  • Our lab partners make your stunning permanent veneers using the above information as a guide.
  • Once the permanent veneers are ready, we remove the temporaries. If all looks and feels great, the veneers are fixed securely into their correct positions.
  • Smile!

Porcelain veneers resist stains well. They can also last for many years with proper care at home and professional care at our office. Since they are so durable, veneers are a smart investment in your smile and self.
